Job Description
We’re looking for a detail-oriented SQL Report Writer to join our client's growing reporting team. In this role, you will partner with operational teams and clients to design, build, analyze, and maintain reports that support key business functions. You’ll be expected to learn our internal software and database structure, understand existing reporting logic, and use Sequel ViewPoint to develop new reports and maintain those already in use. This is a highly collaborative role that requires both technical skill and the ability to translate client needs into effective reporting solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and troubleshoot reports using Sequel ViewPoint based on the following:
- Understanding clients’ reporting needs and specifications
- Offering suggestions for alternate ways to meet clients’ reporting needs
- Writing efficient SQL queries to pull required data from database files
- Analyzing existing views, scripts, and client reports
- Collaborate with operational teams and clients to understand reporting goals
- Analyze and troubleshoot existing reports and data discrepancies
- Learn and apply Sequel ViewPoint to support reporting on IBM i-based systems
- Respond to support tickets and reporting requests in a timely manner
- Participate in team knowledge-sharing, documentation, and occasional training
Must-Have Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases
- Ability to read, write, and troubleshoot complex queries (joins, subqueries, aggregations)
- Experience with at least one reporting tool (e.g., Power BI, Crystal Reports, SSRS)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Good written and verbal English communication skills
- Comfortable working U.S. business hours or overlapping shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Sequel ViewPoint or IBM i (AS/400) systems
- Knowledge of accounting, financial, or law firm industry
- Experience with legal software (Aderant, Juris, Omega, PCLaw, Elite, TABS, Javelin, Timeslips, Time Matters, Rainmaker, LMS)
- Crystal Reports design experience
- Database administration and scripting experience (e.g., stored procedures, performance tuning)
Location: Remote
Rate: $20/hour. This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week. Contract duration is 12 months with possible extensions.
