Job Description
The CNC Programmer / CNC Operator performs a repetitive task by building and developing the same pieces or parts with the same machinery. They may drill, bolt, or hone metal in order to complete the design in the blueprint they are following. A CNC Programmer / Operator normally works on parts or other metal machinery through the use of a Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC). They must use several machines and tools to plan the design. They are also responsible for verifying precise measurements prior to production. Additionally, a CNC Programmer / Operator prepares etching solutions to repair damaged metal / Fixtures and maintains their machinery at all times to ensure optimal workflow.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Read and understand blueprint designs
- Broad knowledge of SolidWorks and Surfcam programming software
- Knowledge of Coreldraw and KCam7 (laser software) beneficial
- Set up machinery for production
- Rework metal to create the blueprint design
- Measure and verify all calculations prior to setting up the machinery
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment
- Complete routine maintenance of their machinery
- Complete understanding of “M” and “G” codes to specify the feed, speed, and cut of any toolpath for a CNC’s
Education And/or Experience
- 3-5 years CNC machine operator experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 – 3 years of related experience; or an associate degree and 5 years
- of progressively responsible related experience or a combination of both
- High level of computer literacy, to include Word, Excel and Outlook
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise
- Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential
- Should have a positive and professional attitude
- Ability to work with others
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
Salary: $80,000- $90,000 per year ( depends on experience level)
