Job Description
We are seeking a Feature Toggle Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. This role focuses on building and governing the feature flag platform that enables safe deployments, experimentation, and progressive delivery across our e-commerce ecosystem. You will work with product, architecture, and engineering teams to define best practices, automate integrations, and ensure feature flags are observable, secure, and reliable.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain feature toggle tooling and integrations (LaunchDarkly SDKs, APIs, Terraform providers).
- Partner with product engineering teams to define flagging strategies for safe rollouts, A/B testing, kill switches, and holdout groups.
- Integrate feature toggles with observability platforms (Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Streamlit dashboards) for monitoring and automated kill-switches.
- Build automation and governance frameworks for flags, segments, and environments to reduce duplication and ensure consistency.
- Provide guidance and training to engineering teams on best practices (flag lifecycle management, naming conventions, experimentation).
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines with feature flag progressive delivery workflows.
- Collaborate with architecture and security to enforce access controls, auditing, and compliance in LaunchDarkly.
- Document and maintain runbooks, standards, and self-service tooling for feature toggle usage.
- Partner with analytics and product teams to enable data-driven experimentation and decision-making.
- Contribute to the Feature Toggle Governance model, ensuring visibility, supportability, and adoption across the organization.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, JavaScript, or Go.
- Experience with feature flag platforms (LaunchDarkly preferred; alternatives like Unleash, Split, or Optimizely also relevant).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and how flags fit into deployment workflows.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and microservices architecture.
- Hands-on with observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry).
- Understanding of experimentation concepts (A/B testing, segmentation, holdouts).
Preferred
- Experience building internal developer platforms or shared enablement tooling.
- Background in progressive delivery practices (blue/green, canary, dark launches).
- Familiarity with governance models for platform services (flag cleanup, lifecycle automation).
- Knowledge of event-driven systems (Kafka) and real-time experimentation data.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coach engineering teams.
- Collaborative mindset, working across product, engineering, and architecture.
- Passion for enabling safe, fast experimentation while reducing risk.
- Proactive in identifying flag misuse or operational risks and driving improvements.
Salary/ Rate: $20-$25/hour (depends on experience level). This is a contract to hire position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week. Full-Time Conversion Salary: MXN 75,000–MXN 80,000 per month.
