Job Description:

Our client is seeking for a Jr. UX Content Writer to help create clear, useful, and consistent product content across web and mobile experiences. You will help customers understand their options, complete tasks confidently, and move through digital experiences with less friction.

This role is designed for a strong writer who is building experience in content design and digital products. You will work with designers, product managers, researchers, developers, and other content partners to turn customer needs and complex requirements into concise, human-centered interface content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • UX Writing & Content Design: Write and edit interface content including navigation, labels, buttons, forms, error messages, onboarding, notifications, help content, and other in-product copy.
  • User-Centered Content: Use customer needs, research insights, and journey context to create content that is clear, useful, accessible, inclusive, and appropriate for the moment.
  • Content in the Design Process: Support UX designers from early concepts through implementation, contributing content that helps shape flows, hierarchy, interaction patterns, and the overall experience.
  • Voice & Tone: Apply established voice, tone, terminology, and editorial standards to create consistent experiences across digital products.
  • Content Systems & Governance: Use and help maintain reusable content patterns, guidelines, glossaries, and design-system documentation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with UX designers, product managers, researchers, developers, legal, marketing, and other stakeholders to align content with customer and business needs.
  • Testing & Iteration: Participate in usability testing, content reviews, experiments, and design reviews; use feedback and insights to improve content.
  • Content Quality: Review implemented experiences for accuracy, consistency, accessibility, grammar, and adherence to approved content and design standards.

“Must Have” Specific knowledge and skills:

  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills are essential. The ability to simplify information, write concise customer-focused copy, incorporate feedback, and collaborate effectively within a cross-functional product team is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience writing for websites, mobile apps, e-commerce, retail, loyalty, ordering, delivery, or other customer-facing digital experiences
  • Familiarity with UX writing, content design, accessibility, inclusive language, or user research
  • Experience using Figma or a similar collaborative product design tool
  • Familiarity with content standards, design systems, reusable content patterns, or editorial guidelines

Additional Skills and Other Requirements:

  • Online portfolio or work samples demonstrating writing, editing, content design, or problem-solving. Work samples may include academic, internship, freelance, personal, or professional projects
  • Demonstrated ability to write concise, actionable microcopy for digital experiences or complex user flows
  • Ability to work within established brand voice, tone, terminology, legal, and compliance requirements
  • Working knowledge of user research and usability testing methods, including the ability to incorporate findings into content decisions
  • Understanding of information architecture, interaction design, and how content supports product usability
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities with guidance and communicate about priorities
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and how content design integrates into agile product teams
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Curiosity about customer behavior, language, digital products, AI, and emerging content-design practices
  • Comfort using AI-assisted writing and ideation tools responsibly while applying editorial judgment and established content standards
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in collaborative design critiques and content reviews
  • Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and content-design practices

Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in Communications, English, Journalism, UX, Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Years of Relevant Work Experience: 0–2 years, including internships, academic projects, freelance work, or related professional experience

Salary/Rate: $30-$35/HR (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week.

About Us

Peterson Technology Partners (PTP) is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to creating a transparent, inclusive, and human-centered hiring experience.

For more than 28 years, PTP has operated as one of the top IT staffing and recruiting firms in the USA—built on trust, long-term partnerships, and technical excellence.

Based in the Chicago suburb of Park Ridge, IL, our team of more than 500 employees and consultants is dedicated to:

  • Helping every client make the best hiring decisions possible
  • Matching professionals with the right IT jobs and career opportunities

As part of that commitment, we believe in providing clear information about how our hiring technologies work and how your data is used. The following section outlines our AI-assisted interview process and your rights as a candidate.

AI-Assisted Interview Experience (Pete & Gabi – Rebecca):

To provide a consistent, fair, and flexible experience for all candidates, we use AI-assisted tools to support parts of the interview process. This includes our proprietary AI platform Pete & Gabi, which includes AI recruiter Rebecca.

These AI hiring tools help us:

  • Conduct recorded video interviews
  • Transcribe interviews
  • Summarize candidate responses
  • Generate job-related insights
  • Streamline communication and scheduling

Please note that:

  • The AI does NOT make hiring decisions; all decisions are made by our human recruiters, hiring managers, or client partners.
  • The AI does not evaluate facial expressions, emotions, or physical traits; it is used only to support fairness, consistency, and efficiency.

If you prefer a non-AI interview format, we will gladly provide an alternative.

Technical or Case Interviews (Role-Dependent): −

When applying for certain tech jobs, you may participate in:

  • A technical interview
  • A coding challenge
  • A case study
  • A client-specific assessment

We will always explain what to expect in advance so you can prepare with confidence.

Human Review & Selection: +

Every candidate’s profile—including interviews, conversations, and assessments—is reviewed by experienced recruiters and hiring leaders.

AI insights may assist with organization and evaluation, but final decisions are always human-driven.

Your Rights as a Candidate: +

At PTP, every candidate has the right to:

  • Request a non-AI interview path
  • Ask how your data is being used
  • Request access to transcripts or interview recordings
  • Request deletion of your AI-recorded interview
  • Receive clear, timely communication

Our goal is to ensure you feel respected, informed, and supported throughout your experience.

Our Commitment: +

For more than 28 years, PTP has focused on putting people first—candidates, consultants, employees, and clients.

We’re committed to a hiring process that is:

  • Transparent
  • Compliant
  • Equitable
  • Powered by innovative technology that enhances—not replaces—human judgment

Welcome to the future of hiring at Peterson Technology Partners.

We’re excited to learn more about you.
