Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Senior Data Migration Engineer to drive the data conversion work that powers successful LegalTech SaaS implementations. As firms move from legacy tools to modern platforms, your work ensures that their financial, operational, and practice data is clean, accurate, and ready for day-one use. You’ll lead the full ETL lifecycle—analyzing legacy structures, mapping data to modern schemas, running test conversions, validating results, and supporting a seamless go-live experience.

What You’ll Do:

Data Strategy & Analysis:

  • Analyze legacy financial and practice-management data structures and design end-to-end conversion strategies.
  • Collaborate with project managers and implementation consultants to understand mapping requirements and business rules.
  • Translate functional requirements into clear, scalable technical migration plans.

ETL Development & Execution:

  • Extract data from SQL databases, CSV exports, APIs, and other legacy sources.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries (joins, CTEs, validation queries, reconciliation logic).
  • Develop Python scripts or reusable ETL tools to automate recurring processes and improve consistency.
  • Build and maintain detailed data-mapping documentation across all migration objects.

Dry Runs, Validation & Reconciliation:

  • Perform dry-run migrations and validate data accuracy across financial and operational modules.[Text Wrapping Break]
  • Execute final production loads and deliver reconciliation reports for billing, WIP, AR, GL, and related datasets.
  • Investigate and resolve anomalies, data gaps, or logic errors across multiple data sources.

Documentation & Communication:

  • Create detailed technical documentation, mapping dictionaries, transformation logic, and conversion specifications.
  • Serve as a primary technical partner to project managers, implementation consultants, and client IT teams.
  • Clearly communicate data issues, risks, and recommendations in both technical and non-technical terms.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Help build and enhance migration templates, automation scripts, and best-practice playbooks.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual work, and strengthen data quality.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • 5–8+ years in data migration, ETL engineering, data conversion, or ERP/SaaS system integration.
  • Background in finance, accounting, or financial operations is preferred.
  • Advanced SQL skills (joins, CTEs, schema work, validation logic, troubleshooting, performance tuning).
  • Strong Excel/Power Query skills; Python experience strongly preferred (Pandas/NumPy a plus).
  • Experience with structured and semi-structured file formats (CSV, JSON, XML).
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex datasets, identify patterns, and resolve data-quality issues. Experience executing multi-object migration cycles (dry runs, reconciliations, cutovers).
  • Strong documentation habits and the ability to produce clear technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in legal-tech, professional services, or financial systems is a plus.

Salary/Rate: $20-$25/HR (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week.

As part of that commitment, we believe in providing clear information about how our hiring technologies work and how your data is used. The following section outlines our AI-assisted interview process and your rights as a candidate.

AI-Assisted Interview Experience (Pete & Gabi – Rebecca):

To provide a consistent, fair, and flexible experience for all candidates, we use AI-assisted tools to support parts of the interview process. This includes our proprietary AI platform Pete & Gabi, which includes AI recruiter Rebecca.

These AI hiring tools help us:

  • Transcribe interviews
  • Summarize candidate responses
  • Generate job-related insights
  • Streamline communication and scheduling

Please note that:

  • The AI does NOT make hiring decisions; all decisions are made by our human recruiters, hiring managers, or client partners.
  • The AI does not evaluate facial expressions, emotions, or physical traits; it is used only to support fairness, consistency, and efficiency.

If you prefer a non-AI interview format, we will gladly provide an alternative.

Technical or Case Interviews (Role-Dependent):

When applying for certain tech jobs, you may participate in:

  • A technical interview
  • A coding challenge
  • A case study
  • A client-specific assessment

We will always explain what to expect in advance so you can prepare with confidence.

Human Review & Selection: +

Every candidate’s profile—including interviews, conversations, and assessments—is reviewed by experienced recruiters and hiring leaders.

AI insights may assist with organization and evaluation, but final decisions are always human-driven.

Your Rights as a Candidate: +

At PTP, every candidate has the right to:

  • Request a non-AI interview path
  • Ask how your data is being used
  • Request access to transcripts or interview recordings
  • Request deletion of your AI-recorded interview
  • Receive clear, timely communication

Our goal is to ensure you feel respected, informed, and supported throughout your experience.
