Job Description:

Our client is seeking a skilled Data Engineer with strong expertise in Java and Python to support the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines and platforms. This is a nearshore role, ideal for candidates based in Latin America, working closely with U.S.-based teams in a collaborative, agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Java and Python
  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Data Science, Analytics, Product) to understand data requirements
  • Implement data integration solutions across multiple systems and platforms
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance standards are met
  • Optimize performance of data processing and storage systems
  • Support cloud-based data platforms and data warehousing solutions
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related field
  • Strong programming skills in Java and Python
  • Experience building data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server)
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
  • Understanding of data modeling and data architecture principles
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow)
  • Knowledge of streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka)
  • Exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience working in a nearshore/offshore delivery model
  • Advanced English communication skills (written and verbal)

Rate: $25-$30/hour (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week.
