Job Description:

Location: Nearshore - EST / CST time zone

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Mid-to-Senior Full Stack Engineer to join their growing Engineering team on a long-term contract basis. This role will report directly to the CTO and play a critical part in building and scaling modern, cloud-native applications.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in AWS-based serverless architecture, is proficient in both frontend and backend development, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This is a nearshore role requiring availability within EST/CST time zones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable full stack applications using React, TypeScript, and serverless architectures
  • Build and integrate REST and GraphQL APIs to support frontend and backend functionality
  • Develop and manage cloud-native solutions using AWS services such as CloudFront, CloudWatch, and AWS Shield
  • Work with relational databases including PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS, and Aurora
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and leadership teams to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Contribute to system architecture decisions, emphasizing serverless and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) best practices
  • Implement testing strategies using tools like Jest and participate in ongoing quality improvements
  • Ensure application security, including participation in penetration testing (PenTest) and adherence to best practices (SOC 2 knowledge is a plus)
  • Support deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization of applications
  • Actively participate in standups, team meetings, and technical discussions

Required Qualifications:

  • 3–7 years of professional experience in full stack development
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS (required) and serverless architectures
  • Proficiency in React and TypeScript for frontend development
  • Experience building backend services using serverless TypeScript and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Solid experience with PostgreSQL, RDS, or Aurora databases
  • Experience developing and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Familiarity with GitHub and tools like GitHub Copilot
  • Experience with security testing, including penetration testing (PenTest)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SOC 2 compliance or security frameworks
  • Familiarity with Material UI or similar design systems
  • Background in EdTech, Higher Education, or Publishing (nice to have)
  • Experience in cloud monitoring and security tools such as CloudWatch and AWS Shield
  • Soft Skills & Work Style
  • Strong communication skills with availability during US business hours (EST/CST)
  • Collaborative mindset—works as an extension of the team and actively engages in discussions
  • Comfortable working independently with strong decision-making and prioritization skills
