Job Description:

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Mobile QA Automation Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience to lead and elevate our mobile application testing initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality across our iOS and Android platforms. You will design comprehensive test strategies, debug complex mobile ecosystems, track defects, and help drive our transition toward robust automation frameworks. 

The ideal candidate is a meticulous problem solver who thrives in an agile environment, possesses a deep understanding of mobile network traffic analysis, and has a forward-thinking interest in AI and LLM technologies. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Test Strategy & Execution: Own the end-to-end QA lifecycle. Write, review, and execute highly detailed test plans and test cases tailored specifically for native Android and iOS applications based on product requirements. 
  • Defect Management & Tracking: Identify, isolate, and document complex software defects using JIRA. Champion the defect lifecycle by working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution. 
  • Deep-Dive Debugging: Perform advanced debugging on both iOS and Android platforms to pinpoint root causes of performance issues, crashes, and unexpected behavior. 
  • Traffic & API Analysis: Inspect, manipulate, and analyze network traffic using proxy tools like Charles Proxy or ProxyMan to validate API payloads, network latency, and backend integrations. 
  • Agile Collaboration: Actively participate in Scrum/Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retro, and grooming), collaborating closely with developers, product managers, and UI/UX designers. 
  • Automation Expansion (Preferred): Help build, maintain, and scale our mobile automation frameworks. Write robust automation scripts to increase regression test coverage and accelerate delivery pipelines. 

Job Requirements & Rubrics:

Required Experience & Technical Skills:

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience writing and executing QA test plans/cases specifically for mobile software products. 
  • Platform Expertise: Proven track record of creating comprehensive test scenarios based on application features and requirements for both Android and iOS. 
  • Tooling & Debugging: * Expert-level experience in debugging iOS and Android applications. 
  • Proficiency with network debugging tools such as Charles Proxy or ProxyMan. 
  • Defect Tracking: Extensive day-to-day experience using JIRA for defect logging, tracking, and workflow management. 
  • Methodology: Strong practical understanding and experience working within Agile development methodologies. 

Preferred & "Good to Have" Qualifications:

  • Mobile Automation: Hands-on experience creating automated test scripts using Appium with Java. 
  • Framework Architecture: Experience setting up, maintaining, and performing test automation frameworks across Mobile, Desktop, and Web, alongside building complex test scenarios and acceptance tests. 
  • API Testing: At least 2 years of dedicated experience in API Testing (e.g., Postman, RestAssured). 
  • Emerging Tech: Knowledge of or exposure to LLMs (Large Language Models) and AI models is highly desirable and considered a significant plus. 

Soft Skills & Competencies:

  • Analytical Mindset: An exceptional eye for detail with the ability to foresee edge cases that others might miss. 
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively translate technical bugs into actionable insights for developers and product stakeholders. 
  • Autonomy & Ownership: Ability to drive the QA process independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. 

Salary/Rate: $18-$22/HR (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week.
