Job Description:

Work Hours: Must Support Pacific Time Hours (8-5pm PT)

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Azure Platform Engineer to support the design, deployment, automation, and ongoing management of enterprise Azure cloud infrastructure. This role requires deep, hands-on experience building and maintaining Azure environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a strong emphasis on Terraform, PowerShell, and Azure platform services.

The ideal candidate will possess recent experience engineering Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions and supporting key Azure Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offerings. This individual will work closely with architecture, infrastructure, security, and application teams to implement scalable, secure, and automated cloud solutions aligned with enterprise standards and best practices.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on cloud platform delivery, automation, and infrastructure modernization. The role does not include routine server patching responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, deploy, and support Azure cloud infrastructure and platform services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Provision and manage Azure resources primarily through Terraform and PowerShell automation.
  • Engineer and support Azure IaaS environments, including networking, compute, security, and storage services.
  • Deploy and maintain Azure PaaS services such as:
  • Azure SQL Managed Instance
  • Azure App Services
  • Azure Application Gateway
  • Azure Front Door
  • Azure Load Balancers
  • Azure Firewall
  • Network Security Groups (NSGs)
  • Develop reusable Terraform modules, templates, and deployment pipelines to support standardized cloud provisioning.
  • Automate infrastructure deployment, configuration management, and operational processes through scripting and Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Partner with application teams to design cloud-hosted solutions and ensure infrastructure alignment with application requirements.
  • Implement Azure networking, connectivity, security, and governance controls consistent with enterprise standards.
  • Support cloud monitoring, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis activities.
  • Collaborate with security, architecture, and operations teams to ensure cloud environments meet organizational compliance and security requirements.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, architecture discussions, and cloud platform improvement initiatives.
  • Document cloud platform designs, standards, configurations, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience engineering and supporting Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Terraform, including designing, deploying, and maintaining Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong scripting and automation experience using:
  • PowerShell
  • Python
  • Experience provisioning and supporting Azure IaaS services, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and security components.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure services such as:
  • Azure SQL Managed Instance
  • App Services
  • Application Gateway
  • Front Door
  • Load Balancers
  • Azure Firewall
  • Network Security Groups (NSGs)
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking concepts, routing, security controls, and connectivity patterns.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure, networking, and cloud platform issues.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices, identity management, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience working in Agile and collaborative engineering environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with hybrid cloud and hybrid identity environments.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Azure Active Directory / Entra ID
  • Hybrid Active Directory integrations
  • Microsoft 365 administration and engineering
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale Azure cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications preferred.
