Job Description:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Sales & Use Tax Analyst to join their tax compliance team. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with a foundation in accounting or tax who is looking to deepen their expertise in indirect tax compliance.

The analyst will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely tax filings, supporting audits, and maintaining compliance with evolving tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Collect, validate, and organize financial and transactional data to support accurate tax reporting
  • Perform reconciliations of tax accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Research and interpret sales and use tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Support tax audits by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and resolving variances
  • Utilize Vertex tax software for tax calculations, reporting, and filings
  • Maintain detailed and organized records of tax filings and audit documentation
  • Assist with data gathering and analysis for recurring compliance activities
  • Contribute to indirect tax projects, process improvements, and system enhancements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in tax compliance, accounting, or related role
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, reconciliations, reporting)
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply tax regulations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with sales and use tax filings across multiple jurisdictions
  • Exposure to tax audits and audit support activities
  • Familiarity with Vertex tax software or similar tax automation tools
  • Experience reconciling tax-related general ledger accounts

Salary/Rate: $20-$30/HR (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week.
